1996, S10 fuel problem. Fuel pump working, filter fine, starts for seconds when primed.?
I think I had 2 problems, the fuel pump was making no noise at first. I removed it and checked all the connection and it began working again. I am getting good flow at the fuel out and on the engine side of the filter. When I prime the truck, it will start for a short time, but will die when the fuel is gone.
I don't have anything to check the fuel pressure, but the fuel flow that comes out when the key is in the one position is very strong.
I've checked my plug and my connection at the fuel pump. All are clean and show no signs of burning or soot. My voltage at the pump is at 12 volts.
I would like to know more about the pulsator.
Actually check the fuel pressure,low pressure or pressure that bleeds off quickly can cause this.
There is whats called a fuel pump pulsator that can cause this/symptoms of a bad fuel pump.
The pulsator is the flexable connection between the fuel pump and the fuel sender.
the original ones have orange seals and the seals fail..
Replacement ones have black seals.
check fuel pump wiring ,power and grounds,relay,fuses.
